Nature and Landscape Photography
I developed my passion for photography in my career as a marine scientist and ecologist —exploring micro-, macro-, time-lapse, camera-trap and field photography to document my research and consulting projects.
Although retired now, I am still bitten by the photography bug pursuing images in nature, landscape and travel photography. Within these broad genres I often seek images that add a different perspective or reveal patterns and textures in otherwise common subjects, such as abstract images found in water reflections or close-ups of leaf patterns.
I’ve also developed a passion for astro landscape photography seeking late evening or nighttime images that juxtapose the moon or Milky Way or other celestial bodies with landscapes or urban settings in the foreground.
I post many of my photos online for casual viewing via Facebook, Instagram and Flickr as indicated in the social media links above. I’ve been particularly active on Flickr where I’ve created a web presence and published a few of my photos in travel magazines like Pacific Yachting and a children’s Guide to New Zealand Birds.
